Rhythm of the Sea is the best of both worlds being directly across from the beach, on the quiet side of town, yet only a few short blocks strolling distance to the Historic District with its interesting array of shops and fine restaurants and eateries. So leave your car parked in our ample parking and stroll to town or borrow one of our cruisers to bicycle around town. We have storage for your own bike; just remember to bring your own lock for them so our other guests don't borrow your bikes by mistake. We also provide sand chairs and beach towels and there is a summer shower off the back porch. |
In our spacious grand salon a stately 1915 oak Minn Billiard Table graces the open space. It fits beautifully with its surroundings of mission oak furniture. This was the key ingredient to grant Wolfgang his wish to have a pool table. Robyn laid down the law, “only if it goes with the furniture”. A guest came to Wolf’s rescue and said she knew of one for sale that would be perfect. They were both right! Our guests have commented that they love the camaraderie of a friendly game and that the table is a great icebreaker. Spectators may gather to observe your game, but don’t be shy. For a little fun and a chance to be sociable, show off your limited pool skills to an appreciative audience who know even less than you do about the game. Even most knowledgeable players are generally friendly, mutually supportive and willing to share playing tips. Enjoy!
We supply a beverage fridge, which we stock with spring water and sodas. You are more than welcome to use it to chill your wine, as many of the areas fine restaurants are B.Y.O.B. We have ice at your request. Robyn is happy to make recommendations for restaurants based on the atmosphere and style of cuisine you are in the mood for and advance reservations are strongly suggested during the weekends and each night of high season. |

Perhaps you might enjoy an intimate dinner exclusively for the two of you right here at the Inn, away from the restaurant crowds. With a little advance notice Wolfgang is happy to provide dinner during your stay.
We may have caught up with the '90's just before they left us...the inn is wireless internet enabled and our rooms have flat screen televisions and CD clock radios. Each guest room has a ceiling fan and opening windows with screens to capture the ocean breeze and window air conditioners in the summer for personalized control. Essential amenities, by EO Products, and a hair dryer is in each bathroom for your convenience and we offer daily housekeeping service. We also provide plush robes for your comfort & an iron and board is available for your use. However, with the technological age everyone seems to have a cell phone so we have not offered telephones in the rooms in an effort to offer the getaway you so deserve. There is a guest phone located in the grand salon for your unlimited use. Local calls are free. Long distance calls can be operator assisted or with a calling card so you can tell your family and friends what a great time you are having! |

Hospitality and great food. Robyn and Wolfgang Wendt. They are one and the same at Rhythm of the Sea seaside inn. This intimate, boutique ocean front inn has a European flair and an unpretentious air. Robyn and Wolfgang Wendt's casual approach and warm welcome make you feel instantly at ease. They have over 70 years in the lodging and restaurant industry between them (not that they are that old!). With their love of travel and taste for adventure they find themselves far away from their families in New Zealand and Germany. They love to surround themselves with intriguing people and to share their Craftsman Bed and Breakfast and also tales of their adventures.
Gemütlichkeit - an old world German word with no direct translation. It suggests good, old fashion fun, ambiance and hospitality. Robyn, from Auckland, New Zealand, and Wolfgang, from Berlin, Germany were both well traveled when they met and married at Wolf's ski lodge in Colorado. When they are not working they are sailing the seven seas or skiing from a mountaintop. They love meeting new people and it is obvious they are always up for a bit of adventure. So, with their love of travel and their sense of adventure it was from half way around the world via Colorado to Cape May they "Wendt!"
Robyn and Julie handle all the reservations, confirmations and tabulations. From the moment you hear the warmth and friendliness in their voices, you know you are going to like these ladies. They will be the ones who meet you, greet you and will do their utmost to ensure that everything about your stay is comfortable and carefree. They will arrange dinner reservations at any of the fabulous area restaurants and match the cuisine and the atmosphere to your liking. Forget something? Let either Robyn or Julie know and they will be pleased to get it for you. Best of all, they do it with a big smile.
So, when you call Robyn or Julie to make your room reservation, also make a reservation to join them for a relaxed dinner and take a night off, far away from the madding crowd, during your stay. Click here for our Gallery
