During the Arts and Crafts Movement people believed in the healing powers of sea air and in the days before air conditioning an open air sleeping porch offered a summer night’s sleep. This room evokes the invigorating spirit of the tropics with the colorful spectrum of deep coral, fresh greens and sunny palms. View the sparkling water from your bed or recliner and allow the balmy breezes to drift over you and lull you to sleep.
(This room does not have an outside porch. This room IS the original sleeping porch but in the 20's the opening was enclosed with a row of windows and heat was added. If you look from the outside you will see the porch railing is still intact to keep the architectural integrity of the house. Note, also, that the walls are the same as the outside stucco of the building).
